HARDWIRE - SPECIAL "MEGA" ISSUE 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ by: Mike Haba PROLOGUE: ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ "When we evaluate what has hitherto been worshiped as super-human intellect, as genius, we come to the sad conclusion that the intellectuality of mankind must on whole have been very low and wretched: so little intellect was required to feel considerably superior!... People kneel down - like slaves - before power, and the degree of intellectual power will determine the degree of veneration." -- Friedrich Nietzsche. It has been surmised that humans on average use only approximately 14 percent (figures vary widely) of their total brain power. If we could access the remaining 86 percent, we would be able to perform wonders beyond belief. We would no longer perceptualize reality in the same way. Things which we now consider impossible would be actuated at the mere thought... reading people's minds, having conversations without verbal or gestural communication, healing fatal wounds, moving massive and/or heavy objects without physical exertion or even contact, flight (insofar as it being an advanced form of telekinesis) -- (*HINT* for the beginning of ISSUE 2... hehe), et cetera... the ultimate expression of mind over matter. INTRODUCTION: ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ In the year 2025, a pestilence of megadeath proportions has infiltrated the common populace. Any attempts to develop a cure have been met with failure. The situation escalates to that of global crisis. The HARDWIRE experiment ensues... The greatest scientists collaborate and devise an alternate means of preserving humanity. Their intent is on creating a "super-human" who has the ability to survive any environment confronted with. A revolutionary microchip is developed, which when surgically implanted, stimulates specific unused portions of the brain as required by the host. It is in these unused portions that scientists find dormant powers of immeasurable potential. PERSONAL NOTE: ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Greetings to all fellow Amiga artists! Well, here it is! I've just finished it! This is the 1st Special "Mega" Issue of HARDWIRE, the current Command Line BBS Sci-Fi online comix series. Actually, I never intended for this comic to be released as it is now. I planned on doing an entire comic (approx. 20 pages) myself, but I ended up not having the time to do so. Rather than leaving the comic incomplete, I decided on introducing it as the 6th CLBBS online comix series, thereby letting other artists continue the storyline at their discretion. Have fun with it guys! This issue was completed over a period of approximately one month using the DCTV, Deluxe Paint v4.1, Digital Illusions, and -- modesty aside -- a tonne of creative effort (hehe). Despite the fact that I eventually released this as a public comic (multiple contributors), I don't intend on apologizing for the vulgarity ($#!T my head hurts!) on the first story page. What I was trying to capture in the art was a sense of realism, and I don't think "Holy-headache Batman!" would have accomplished this. I play the part of all 7 characters, and I must say I enjoyed drawing the differences in appearance (ie. mohawk and scalp of the first punk). Well, that's about it! I hope you enjoy viewing this as much as I had creating it!
